Every dollar spent to compensate for an avoidable loss is a dollar which might better have been used. We provide our members with access to the most professional loss control representatives.

Safety Incentive Program
Participation in the Safety Incentive Program (SIP) encourages safe behavior by rewarding the municipality for completion of safety related activities. Members can earn awards and monies that will reward employees for their efforts to reduce workplace injuries and create a safer working environment.

Elected Officials TrainingAttendance at the annual elected officials training seminars allow elected officials to become more familiar with the Fund and risk management issues affecting members. A credit is provided for each elected official and highest-level municipal administrator that attends.

Employment Practices Liability (EPL) Training
As part of a bi-annual update to members’ EPL loss control programs, training is provided for managers, supervisors and all other personnel to assist members in complying with court mandated anti-harassment training.

HR Helpline
Toll free and online access to employment law attorneys are available to answer members’ specific questions from hiring and termination situations, to FMLA, ADA, exempt/non-exempt, harassment, discrimination, and more.

MEL Safety InstituteMembers have an expansive list of classes available to assist in meeting OSHA and PEOSHA training requirements. In addition, non-mandated training is available to assist employees in identifying hazards and working safely.

Safety and Loss Control ServicesMembers have access to professional safety and loss control representatives to assist in preventing losses through on-site surveys, consultation services, PEOSHA inspection services, safety meetings and more.

Fund Administration
The Fund Administrator carries out the policies and provides the day-to-day management of the Fund.

NJMSIJIF offers access to education and training programs at NO ADDITIONAL COST to members including:

Access to the MEL Safety Institute (MSI), which provides PEOSH required training sessions, workshops and seminars. Over 1,200 different classes are regularly scheduled throughout the state. Site-specific classes can be set up at the member's own venue.
